The OpenThinkTank idea

The OpenThinkTank idea is much older than the word "crowdsourcing", but this term matches the
approach pretty good: OpenTT is about encouraging people to share progressive ideas in technology,
economy, society and politics and trying to help turning the idea into reality by providing a forum and a
network of enthusiasts sharing the same aim.

Ventures in vitro

On a regular base, OpenThinkTank collaborators meet to discuss own and foreign current developments
in science to develop venture scenarios in a creative dialogue. Especially within natural sciences, many
individuals around the globe develop amazing things that are potential technologies, but will never come
close to become technology because there's daily routine and a lack of creative thinking. The latter is due
to that in university R&D mostly people of common disciplines work together, resulting in events of out-of-
the-box-thinking happening very rarely.

Why a Borg cube as symbol?

The idea for OpenTT occured when two boys thought of how cool it would be, when we all could use a
brain-computer interface to access all the information available on the internet directly in our minds.
Soon the two recognized that this would mean the linkage of all the minds connected: being hardware
supported telepathy, such technology could form up a Borg-like collective. It's a prime example for the
issue OpenTT adresses and so a very nice symbol for the project.
